The precious wood exterior is richly toned, with delicate inlay work forming an intricate border and a central mother-of-pearl cartouche. The interior of the slope is lined with original red leather writing surface and the writing slope opens to reveal two drawers and two compartments for paper and documents beneath the leather, with additional spaces for ink bottles, pens, and small writing accessories.
