Very large and ornate Art Deco Wilton Ware centrepiece bowl. Of round fluted baluster body, raised on a square pedestal foot and with two relief-moulded handles. Cobalt blue mottled body is hand-painted with a vibrant gold Chinoiserie design depicting an ornate pagoda rising above a lake scene, which includes sampan boats, a bridge and a large flowering tree. The edge of the bowl is trimmed with a sumptuous geometric and floral border with medallions depicting chrysanthemum flowers. Very decorative statement piece that captures the 1920's trend for Orientalism.

Made by A. G. Harley Jones, England, c. 1920's, model 5008, gold circular Wilton Ware stamp to base.
