Art Deco Wilton Ware centrepiece two-handled oblong bowl, AG Harley Jones gold and cobalt blue Chinoiserie 5008
Beautiful Art Deco Wilton Ware centrepiece bowl. Of rectangular fluted body, raised on a pedestal base, the bowl has two relief-moulded gilded handles. Cobalt blue mottled body is hand-painted with a vibrant gold Chinoiserie design depicting an ornate pagoda rising above a lake scene, which includes sampan boats, a bridge and a large flowering tree, with the moon rising in the distance. The edge of the bowl is trimmed with a sumptuous geometric and floral border with medallions depicting chrysanthemum flowers. Very decorative statement piece that captures the 1920's trend for Orientalism.
