About this piece
Multi-gem pieces like this one are really a study in how differently coloured stones behave under the same light — amethyst, citrine, peridot, garnet and topaz each catching and refracting light in their own way, so the pendant shifts character depending on which stone the eye lands on first. The mix of cuts adds to that variety rather than settling for uniformity: oval, round, teardrop and marquise shapes all working together, which takes a genuinely careful hand to arrange without the pendant looking cluttered.
Every stone has been tested at the jeweller's rather than simply assumed, which is worth knowing given how easily coloured gems can be misidentified by eye alone. The pendant hangs from a fine Singapore chain, sterling silver gilded with 22ct yellow gold — Singapore chains being a twisted rope-link style that catches light along its length, a nice bit of movement to set against the stillness of the pendant itself.
