About this piece
Malachite's banding is entirely its own doing — those swirling bands of light and dark green form as the mineral grows in layers, which means no two beads, let alone two necklaces, ever repeat the same pattern. Here that natural variation is put to good use across a graduated strand, the beads increasing steadily in size toward the centre, hand-knotted between each one and interspersed with small yellow glass beads that give the deep green a bit of contrast rather than letting it run unbroken.
The clasp is solid 925 sterling silver, a lobster claw fastening that's straightforward and secure rather than decorative for its own sake, which suits a necklace where the beads are clearly meant to carry the whole visual weight. Hand-knotting between beads isn't just a nice finishing touch either — it keeps each bead from grinding against its neighbours and means the strand would still hold together reasonably well even if the thread failed at one point.
