About this piece

Ermani Bulatti is a genuinely Italian-sounding name attached to a thoroughly Dutch operation — founded in 1984 by Herman Tiggeler in Obdam, the Netherlands, with the brand name itself built by "Italianising" a blend of the founder's and a designer's names. Everything was handmade and sold exclusively through high-end boutiques until the company closed in 2012, which has left a reasonably compact and collectible body of work behind it.

This brooch is a large, round design, silver plated and paired with a clear acrylic body, centred on an ornate dangling decoration that gives the whole piece real movement rather than sitting flat and static. Ermani Bulatti's output tended to favour bronze and oxidised finishes more than silver tone, so this one sits slightly outside the maker's most typical output — a nice variation for anyone already collecting the brand, rather than a repeat of the usual look.

Condition notes

Very good vintage condition. Some light wear to silvering; small chip to acrylic to the bottom edge.
