About this piece

Screw-back fittings are one of the more reliable ways to date costume jewellery without needing a hallmark — clip and post fittings had both existed for decades by the 1950's, but screw-backs held their ground particularly well through mid-century, prized for staying properly secure through an evening of dancing in a way clip fittings sometimes didn't. These earrings use exactly that fitting, each one a daisy-shaped cluster of rhinestones catching light from multiple angles at once rather than a single flat surface.

The bracelet is the more technically interesting piece of the pair, three rows of rhinestones set in an articulated design that moves and flexes with the wrist rather than sitting rigid, which takes considerably more engineering than a fixed bangle. Rhinestone jewellery from this period was built specifically with evening wear in mind, cut and faceted to throw light under the kind of low, warm lighting a daytime piece would never need to contend with — worth keeping in mind when deciding what to wear it with.

Condition notes

Great vintage condition. Some wear to the plating on the bracelet clasp; tiny nibbles to the edges of some rhinestones commensurate with age.
