About this piece
Brutalist jewellery took its cues from Brutalist architecture in the loosest possible sense — rough, textured surfaces and an emphasis on raw material presence over polish, applied to something you could actually wear on a finger rather than pour in concrete. Here that influence shows up in the tapering shoulders, deliberately textured rather than smoothed out, giving an otherwise classic flower cluster halo design a rougher, more tactile edge than the style usually gets.
At the centre sits a deep blue oval sapphire, ringed by the floral cluster halo and set in sterling silver rather than gold, a material choice that suits the design's rawer sensibility better than a precious metal would. It's a ring that manages to sit in two design camps at once — traditional in its overall structure, contrarian in its finish — which is a harder balance to strike than either style alone
