About this piece
Savoy built its reputation on premium cigar accessories, and this box was originally designed as a humidor, though it no longer carries its original humidification fittings, leaving it fully functional as general storage rather than for its intended purpose. The exterior is finished in figured pearwood veneer, running through honey, caramel, and golden tones under a high-gloss lacquer, framed by ebonised edges that give the whole thing a crisp, architectural line.
The hinged lid opens onto a Spanish cedar-lined interior, a timber cabinetmakers have favoured for centuries specifically for humidor and fine cabinetry work, prized for its distinctive scent and natural resistance to moisture and insects, properties that made it valuable well before anyone was using it to store cigars. With those original humidor fittings gone, the box now works equally well for jewellery, watches, documents, or anything else worth keeping somewhere solid and good-looking, a piece of purpose-built luxury furniture that's found a second life.
Condition notes
Excellent condition with the pearwood veneer retaining a rich colour, beautiful figuring and an attractive high-gloss finish. The Spanish cedar interior is clean and well preserved, showing only light signs of careful use. There is minor nibbling around the presentation plaque to the underside of the lid, visible in the photographs. Overall, this is a beautifully preserved Savoy box of excellent quality that presents exceptionally well and is ready for many years of continued use.
