A nice little Royal Worcester set for anyone who takes their tea with a bit of period flourish. This set brings together pieces from slightly different years rather than a single matched production run — the cup is model 1471, dated 1891, while the two saucers are model 1196, dated 1902, a gap of over a decade that was fairly normal practice for a factory continuously producing similar shapes and glazes across a long stretch of time. All three share the same satin blush glaze, shifting gently from apricot to creamy white, moulded with bamboo-style ribs that give the porcelain a botanical, faintly Japanese-influenced feel typical of the period.
The cup has a scalloped rim, a gilt handle, and brown botanical transfer decoration under raised gilt detailing, while the saucers carry the bamboo ribbing straight through, radiating out from the centre in a fairly precise, symmetrical pattern. It's genuinely thin, translucent porcelain — hold a piece up to the light and you can see it — the kind of crisp modelling Royal Worcester was known for through its late Victorian and Edwardian output.
Condition notes
Very good antique condition overall. There is a tiny chip to the base of the cup, light wear to the gilding, and minor firing or glaze imperfections to the saucers. The porcelain remains bright and attractive, with no cracks or visible repairs.
