Beautiful Chinese antique late 19th century ornate figural candlestick hand-carved from red soapstone. Depicting a small deer plucking at the flowers of a prunus tree and standing on top of a rocky outcrop; there is a small bird perched at its feet. The body of the deer is incised with swirls and a floral design. The statue comes on its original black woods stand.

Dating to late Qing dynasty period.

7.5 x 4.5 cm across the base

Good antique condition. Small chips along the upper rim; small losses where the tail is meant to join the tree; crack near the hind legs of the deer.
