This plate dates to the Yongzheng period, made from porcelain thin and fine enough that the blue and white decoration seems almost to float on the surface rather than sit under it. The scene shows scholars and a boy set within a landscape, a subject that turns up often on porcelain of this quality — scholarly leisure being exactly the kind of theme a Yongzheng-era buyer would have wanted looking back at them from the table. A geometric border runs around the rim, disciplined enough to frame the scene without competing with it.
Yongzheng porcelain is generally held in high regard among collectors of Qing dynasty wares, the emperor's own exacting standards having pushed imperial and provincial kilns alike toward genuinely refined output during a relatively short reign. A plate this thin surviving three centuries intact says something about how it's been looked after along the way.

Good antique condition. Long hairline crack that is visible on both sides; several chips to rim; mottled grey discolouration.
