Art Nouveau sterling silver gilded ladies cigarette case with scrolls, vacant cartouche; William Neale

Beautiful sterling silver ladies cigarette case of bevelled concave form with rounded corners. Ornately engraved and bright-cut all over with foliate scrolls in Art Nouveau style, the interior is richly gilded. The lid has a vacant cartouche, so this case can be personalised as a present.

Made by William Neale & Son, and fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1917.

Good antique condition, firm secure closure. The bands are rather frazzled and stretched out; the lid has small dents and the outline of the cartouche is visible from the other side.
