Exquisite antique vermeil parcel gilt snuff box. Rectangular body with rounded corners, waisted sides and protruding thumbpiece. The flat hinged lid is beautifully chased in Arabesque / Moorish style with scrolling foliage and blooming flowerheads; the base is engraved with an engine-turned design.

No marks, the box has been XRF tested by a professional jeweller - the cover is made of 840 silver, which is the standard of Persian silver and the base is made of 750 silver which was used in Germany, Prussia, Italy, Spain and Hungary among others.

Dating to second half of 19th century.
