Meissen's gallant scenes, small groupings of figures in courtship or leisurely rural conversation, drew heavily on the same Fragonard-adjacent romantic tradition that shows up across so much European decorative porcelain of the period, though Meissen's own version of the genre predates most of its imitators by decades. This plate carries three figures set in a rural landscape, framed by an emerald green mosaic-pattern border worked with small polychrome flowering stems, the whole thing finished with a wavy gilt edge that keeps the busier border from overwhelming the central scene.
The base carries the painted blue crossed swords mark alongside impressed numbers and a letter, U 1 19.
