By the late 1800's, German porcelain factories were still turning out Regency-dressed couples decades after the actual Regency had ended in Britain, the same habit that kept Georgian-dress figures like Sitzendorf's flower girl pairs on the shelves long past their period. There's a reliable market logic to it: a well-dressed couple from a slightly earlier, slightly more mannered age reads as decorative rather than dated, and factories kept the formula running for as long as it sold.
This pair sticks to the type closely. The gentleman and lady are worked in polychrome enamel, mostly green, blue and brown, with the lady's dress hand-painted in a pink floral pattern and a flower garland held between the two figures, presumably standing in for whatever courtship gesture the modeller had in mind.
