About this piece
KPM, short for Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur, the Royal Prussian porcelain works in Berlin, built a lasting reputation for portrait painting on porcelain that held its own against the more famous French and Austrian houses. This small, shallow dish carries exactly that kind of work: a young woman in a feathered hat, painted with real attention to expression and dress rather than reduced to a decorative figure, set against a maroon-brown ground that gives the portrait real depth.
Condition notes
Great antique condition, no chips or cracks. Some light scuffing along the rim.
