About this piece
Jablonec nad Nisou, in Bohemia, built a reputation for glass and paste stonework good enough to rival real gemstones, an industry that carried on through Czechoslovakia's various political changes across the 20th century. This little brooch shows that tradition off in a domed, almost conical shape rather than the usual flat costume piece — five blue paste stones set in a gilded filigree mount, the fine wirework catching light around each one. Small in diameter, but the height gives it more presence than its size alone would suggest.
Condition notes
Great vintage condition. Some light tarnishing to metal, the rim is a bit uneven in shape.
