Vieux Paris — literally "Old Paris" — is the catch-all name given to fine porcelain made by the numerous small workshops operating in and around the city in the decades either side of 1800, most of them producing wares good enough to rival the grander state factories without ever bothering to establish a lasting brand name of their own. This milk jug follows a shape and colour palette that had real currency across Europe at the time: a ribbed baluster body alternating white porcelain with gilded stripes, sitting on a stepped pedestal foot, a combination popular enough that comparable examples were produced by both Royal Vienna and Sèvres.
The handle carries applied, moulded acanthus leaf decoration, a classical motif entirely in keeping with the Empire style the whole piece leans into. It's attributed to Jean-Pierre Feuillet, active as a decorator between 1814 and 1834, though the base itself is unmarked — Feuillet worked as an independent painter-decorator rather than a factory owner, which was common practice at the time and part of why so much fine Vieux Paris porcelain went unsigned despite the quality of the work.

Excellent antique condition. Firing and gilding defect to handle; small pockmark to gilding on the foot; some wear to gilding appropriate to age and use; fleabite to edge of foot.
