Wonderful mid-Victorian master butter spreader with a sterling silver blade and collar and lovely mother-of-pearl handle. The blade is ornately engraved with scrolling foliage and decorated with an applied acanthus leaf to reverse. The handle is made of thick, quality nacre and decorated with reeded borders. The mother-of-pearl has beautiful deep lustre and rich colouring.

This would also make for a wonderful caviar server.

Exquisite example of Victorian cutlery that will add elegance and luxury to any dinner table.

Made by Martin, Hall & Co and fully hallmarked for Sheffield, 1857.
