Victorian sterling silver openwork bonbon basket. Heart-shaped pierced body that is raised on three ball feet and trimmed with a serpentine edge. Embossed all over with scrolls, bows and flowerheads in typical Art Nouveau style of the period.
Beautiful little trinket dish that would be a great vide poche on a dressing table, or perhaps be used as a snack bowl to serve sweets at teatime.
Made by Deakin & Francis and fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1897.
