Sitzendorf porcelain pair of figurines of a flower girl and her cavalier
A pair of matching porcelain figurines depicting a rustic flower girl and a gentleman who we can safely assume has just purchased a flower in order to gift it to her. Both are dressed in Georgian attire – the lady depicts an idealised version of a peasant girl, and the man is clearly a gentleman of leisure, but little taste as evidenced by his choice to combine a green overcoat with red bows on his stockings. The figurines rest on fluted bases decorated with gilt and flowers in typical Rococo fashion.
Made by Sitzendorf, Thuringia, Germany, c. 1920’s.
182 g
10.5 and 11 cm tall
4 x 3.5 cm at bases
Good antique condition. Girl has restoration to basket and losses to the flower she’s holding in her other hand.
