George V gilt sterling silver large vanity dressing table box, Goldsmiths and Silversmiths, 1915
Very impressive and large sterling silver vanity table lidded box. Round drum-shape with a slightly domed removable lid that has a pie-crust fluted edge. The box is decorated all over with an engine-turned design of geometric bands; the interior of both the pot and lid are gold-washed. Functional and ornate storage piece for any dressing table.
Made by the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co and fully hallmarked for London, 1915.
151.77 g / 4.88 t oz
7.5 cm tall
7.5 cm base diameter
8.5 cm lid diameter
Very good antique condition. Some light wear to the gilding; few dings; small dent to side of lid; shall depression near the base of the box. Due to the engine-turned finish the dings are not very visible on the outside – please see the photos taken of the inside.
