1890's Indian Calcutta silver figural bowl with fish legs and embossed village scenes
Wonderful Colonial Raj sterling silver spice or salt cellar fashioned in highly ornate Calcutta silver style. The top of the bowl has fluted petal form that is enhanced with a pierced openwork design. The base is embossed all over with Indian village scenes that depict houses and copious shrubbery. The bowl rests on three figural feet in the form of fish. Beautiful example of Indian craftsmanship of the period.

Excellent antique condition. The fluted rim is a bit uneven; one leg skews a bit sideways; the legs are not raised evenly, so the bowl slopes a bit to one side.
