1890's Indian Calcutta silver figural bowl with embossed animal scenes
Wonderful Colonial Raj sterling silver bonbon basket fashioned in highly ornate Calcutta silver style. The top of the bowl has a fluted petal form that is enhanced with a pierced openwork design. The base is embossed with animals in pursuit, including a dog, a cat and a rabbit, as well as various shrubbery and foliage. The bowl rests on three figural feet in the form of fish. Beautiful example of Indian craftsmanship of the period.
