Late Victorian cobalt blue Jasperware large biscuit barrel by Wedgwood. Decorated all over with fine white sprigging depicting a typical Neoclassical motif – two women are making an offering to a burning brazier and on the other side two women observe a Cupid on a pedestal. The jar is further decorated with trees and foliage. The barrel has silver plated mounts with a swing handle.

Made by Wedgwood, c. 1880’s. Silver plate by Jonathan Bell, Sheffield.

Very good antique condition. The lid sits at a slight angle; wear to silvering; some scuffing to the stoneware body; tiny chip near the base; small firing crack to the centre of the flame in the brazier.
