Large Victorian Staffordshire pearlware figure of Albanian farmer and his wife at harvest
Very large mid-Victorian pearlware group figure depicting an Albanian farmer and his wife. The couple are dressed in national costume and have sheaves of wheat at their feet; the man is holding a sickle and the woman is holding a basket. The figure is hand-painted with polychrome enamels in russet red, orange and green.
Made in Staffordshire, England, c. 1860’s.
