The well-fitted cover showcases an eagle and crane landing on a pond, executed in gold takamaki-e 高蒔絵 (high-relief lacquer design) and maki-e蒔絵 (relief lacquer design).

The interior and base of the box boast high-quality nashiji lacquer 梨子地 (sprinkled gold lacquer) on a golden ground.

The overall effect is a masterful, visually striking work with great attention to detail.
