Edwardian set of 2 Neoclassical gilt sterling silver boxed navette salts with spoons
Edwardian boxed set of 2 matching gilt sterling silver salts and accompanying salt spoons. Neoclassical design with oval, boat-shaped navette bodies and large loop side-handles resting on stepped pedestal feet. The lower halves of the cellars are fluted and the handles are similarly reeded. The spoons have very ornate handles that are embossed with flowers and trimmed with delicate scrolls. The interiors of the salts are sumptuously gold-washed.
The set comes in the original leather presentation case that has a domed hinged lid and is lined with purple silk and velvet. The top of is the lid is trimmed with a gilded border.
Made by John Round & Son and fully hallmarked for Sheffield, 1908.
