Qing dynasty red soapstone figural candlestick with deer, bird and prunus tree
Beautiful Chinese antique late 19th century ornate figural candlestick hand-carved from red soapstone. Depicting a small deer plucking at the flowers of a prunus tree and standing on top of a rocky outcrop; there is a small bird perched at its feet. The body of the deer is incised with swirls and a floral design. The statue comes on its original black woods stand.
Dating to late Qing dynasty period.
