Antique late 19th century ornate small figurine hand-carved from mottled reddish soapstone. Depicting a monkey riding the back of a kneeling water buffalo. Very detailed carving with close attention to such details as the buffalo's ribs, nostrils and eyelids; the monkey has a very impish expression on its face.
Dating to late Qing dynasty period.
