Both are hand-painted with a Royal Yellow ground, an uncommon colour in Dresden porcelain compared to the whites and pastels more typically used, and gilding runs throughout, framing galante scenes drawn from 18th century French painting alongside floral reserves and ornamented borders.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe underside of each piece carries the underglaze blue AR pseudomark, a deliberate echo of Meissen's own Augustus Rex mark that Wolfsohn used on her decorated wares until the practice was legally prohibited in 1883, which is what makes it possible to date this pair fairly precisely to the years just before that ruling.
